Saturday 6th February 2010 KO 15.00
Garden Walk, Gornal

Andy Mitchell marked his return to form with two goals as Wulfs picked up a vital three points away at Gornal Athletic.

Manager Tim Tipton gave a league debut to Stéphane Messomo as well as bringing Tony Collins, James Skedgel, Craig Love, Myles Fenn and Liam Evans back in to the staring line up.

Wulfs started brightly and went close on two minutes when Stéphane Messomo supplied an excellent cross from the left which Andy Mitchell glance headed across goal but wide of the post.

It didn't matter as they did open the scoring in the 6th minute.  Mark Tipton picked out Liam Evans' good midfield run and he squared for
Andy Mitchell to control and score.

Evans should have increased the lead two minutes later when Mitchell picked him out at the far post but he screwed his shot well wide.

Both sides then both had a shout for a penalty, Gornal first when Kieron Bennett went down under challenge from Mark Tipton and Wulfs Ricky Anslow rounded the keeper before being brought down by a last ditch tackle.

Wulfs doubled their lead four minutes before half time.  Craig Love delivered a good in-swinging free kick into the area and
Andy Mitchell rose unmarked at the far post to head home.

Mitchell went close to a hat-trick eleven minutes into the second half but his header, again from a Craig Love free kick, was held under the bar by the keeper.

Gornal went close in the 57th minute when Danny Tipton saved Steve Bull's header from a Mike Robertson cross at the second attempt.

Substitutions followed and Wulfs appeared to be cruising to victory until Gornal pulled a goal back in the 79th minute.  Tom Piggott curled a good ball in behind the Wulfs defence and
Geoff Hill finished with aplomb from just inside the area.

Hill went close again shortly after when he fired a shot just over the angle but Wulfs had a great chance to wrap up the victory four minutes from time when the referee spotted a handball in the area.  Andy Mitchell's spot kick was saved but it didn't matter as Wulfs held on.
